1597_elizabeth_alford_will

Part of Elizabeth Alford’s will, 1597

“The Blessed Trinitie prosper me and give me good success to all these my intents and principles. I, Elizabeth Alford of Hitcham in the County of Buckinghamshire, widdow, being of good health and perfect remembrance (for which I thank God) do ordaine this my last will and Testament for my lands, goods and chattells in manor and forme following.”

cruickshank

The memorial to George Cruickshank, merchant of Amsterdam is largely self-explanatory. Cruickshank’s official residence was King Square Westminster, and there is no explanation of why he is buried at Hitcham. The boar’s head crest is associated with the Campbell clan. Faringdon House is between Oxford and Swindon.
